Aunt Betty’s AtticAn important source of income and other resources for the Mizell Senior Center is Aunt Betty’s Attic. Currently, our little store operates from a space that is 21’ by 21’. When we can offer more space, more income will be generated to support the programs and services of the Mizell Senior Center. Opportunities to underwrite this capital project in full or in part will help us toward our goal. Please contact the Executive Director for more information. Outreach & Meals on Wheels Van, Hybrid TechnologyAlthough we provide a large number and variety of services to the seniors at our facility, and at various senior housing facilities in Palm Springs and Cathedral City, we know there are seniors we are not reaching, but who need our services. The purchase of a community outreach van would enable us to visit area shopping centers and mobile home parks to provide information, health, and educational programs to additional seniors in the community. Cost: $28,000 Dance FloorThe portable dance floor in the Noia Auditorium is used every week for our Sunday dances and has served us well since we opened in 1991; however, a new, permanent, level dance floor would provide a larger space for the weekly Sunday dances, while creating a safer atmosphere for our seniors Cost: $10,000 Five 2-Way RadiosUpdating our radio communications will greatly enhance communications between our Meals On Wheels drivers and the Center for their daily meal deliveries. The radios provide immediate communications with the drivers and staff at the Center in emergency situations Cost: $438 each, for a total of $2,190 Electronic SignNew Sign & Software Fulfilled by Emily Williams, Kiwanis Club of Palm Springs, Lamar Advertising, Daktronik, and Best Sign Our electronic sign at the corner of Ramon and Sunrise is the “face” many people see of the Mizell Senior Center. New computer instructions (software) to run the sign will allow us to utilize the sign as a fundraising resource as well as a community education tool.
